Just like Dorothy
/I might be putting myself out of business, but it's true. Everything you need to know is already available to you.
We're all just like Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz. In that pivotal scene at the end, she asked Glinda the Good Witch, "Can you help me?" Her response: "You don't need help any longer. You have had the power all along [to get home]."
Glinda has a point.
As frustrating as that can sound when you're looking for the right answer to a problem in your life, it's true. What you do, what you say, what you think, all add up to what happens next.
I often write blog posts to send myself a message I also communicate to clients. Today is the same.
Lately I've been considering a leap of my own. I've set an intention for how I want it to happen—on my terms, and at the right time for me—and another intention to have the support I need. For loved ones to trust my judgment even if they don't understand my decision.
The crazy part? I've received everything I've wanted! People I never expected to throw their hat in the ring did so, telling me I always land on my feet and this time is no different. I feel backed 100%.
But, for some reason, I still can't make a move.
Then it hit me. I don't believe in myself as much as everyone else does.
Cue Glinda. She didn't tell Dorothy she could click those ruby slippers at the beginning because she wouldn't have believed her. As the good witch told her: "You needed to find it out for yourself."
Um, yep. What she said.
So here I am, and chances are you're here with me. Waiting for some external sign or one more person to believe in us, before finally crossing the threshold. Sorry to break it to both of us...it won't work.
Not matter how many signs and supporters you have, you won't move forward until you believe in yourself. You need to hear from yourself that you know what you're doing, and that you have what it takes to succeed.
You do, after all. In my last post, Believe in you (I do), I said as much. Now it's your (our) turn.
If we assume that Glinda is right: what do you have already at your disposal to get what you want?
Answer: knowing what you want, appreciating what you have, and believing that you deserve what you want and will get it.
Setting an intention helps: Say it out loud—what do you want? Then write it down, without qualifiers or hesitation. Next, answer:
- What is the best possible way for this to happen?
- What would success feel and look like?
- How is what you want already happening, or already true?
- How are you perfect (yes, perfect) for this opportunity? How are you meant to get what you want?
Your own Kansas and Auntie Em are right around the corner...mine too. Let's go get 'em.
